Managing a Successive Deployment of Office Premium and Related ProductsInstallation Requirements for Other Office Applications and Related ProductsIn addition to the core applications, Microsoft Office 2000 Premium includes the following Office applications and related products and features, which you can deploy with Office:
If you install these products with Office or other related products, keep in mind the following installation requirements.
Note Office Server Extensions and Office Web Components are included on the Office Premium discs. Installation requirements for these products are described in detail in the Microsoft Office 2000 Resource Kit. For more information about installing Office Server Extensions, see Installing Office Server Extensions. For more information about installing Web Components, see Requirements for Office Web Components. Publisher 2000To install Publisher, run Setup.exe from the root folder of Office Disc 2. Using the /a command-line option, you can create an administrative installation point from which users can install Publisher over the network. You can then run Setup.exe from the root folder of the administrative installation point to install Publisher on users’ computers. Software prerequisitesPublisher requires that other software be preinstalled on the user’s computer. Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 Must be installed before you install Publisher.. Elevated privilegesTo install Publisher on Windows NT 4.0, you must run Setup with elevated privileges. If Setup requires you to reboot the user's computer, then you must be logged on with elevated privileges both before and after reboot. Reboot requirementsSetup requires you to reboot the computer if you install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, or if Setup needs to update system files that are in use during installation. If Setup requires you to reboot the computer, then you must log on again using the same account so that Setup can finish the installation. PhotoDraw 2000To install PhotoDraw, run Setup.exe from Office Disc 3 (PhotoDraw Disc 1). Office Disc 3 also includes installation programs for the following software.
Software prerequisitesPhotoDraw requires that other software be preinstalled on the user’s computer. Internet Explorer 4.0 or later Must be installed before you install PhotoDraw. DirectX 6.0 Must be installed before you install PhotoDraw on Windows 95/98. Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 Must be installed before you install PhotoDraw on Windows NT 4.0. Elevated privilegesTo install PhotoDraw on Windows NT 4.0, you must log on as an administrator when you run Setup. Reboot requirementsSetup may require you to reboot the computer, depending on whether system files are updated during installation. You do not need elevated privileges to finish the installation after rebooting. If you install PhotoDraw 2000 with Office and you want to minimize the number of times you have to reboot the user's computer, you must install PhotoDraw first, install Office, and then reboot the computer. If you want to install PhotoDraw after Office, you must reboot the computer after you install Office and allow Office Setup to finish installation tasks before you install PhotoDraw. Important If you install Office before you install PhotoDraw, and you do not reboot the computer after installing Office and before installing PhotoDraw, then Office may not function correctly. Microsoft Data EngineMicrosoft Data Engine (MSDE) is installed silently with Office Server Extensions, but you can also install it separately. You can install MSDE from Office Disc 1 by double-clicking Setupsql.exe in the SQL\x86\Setup folder. Software prerequisitesMSDE requires that other software be preinstalled on the user’s computer. Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1 or later Must be installed before you install MSDE. Microsoft Access 2000 or Office Server Extensions Must be installed before you install MSDE. DCOM 95 Must be installed before you install MSDE on Windows 95/98. Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 Must be installed before you install MSDE on Windows NT 4.0. Elevated privilegesTo install MSDE on Windows NT 4.0, you must log on as an administrator when you run Setup. You do not need elevated privileges to run MSDE.
