Upgrading to Excel 2000Saving Workbooks in Excel 98 and Excel 97When Microsoft Excel 2000 users save workbooks in Excel 97-2000 format, all worksheet and chart data, formatting, macros, and other Excel 2000 features are preserved in Excel 98 (Macintosh) and Excel 97 (Windows). However, if an Excel 98 or Excel 97 user saves the workbook in an earlier file format, some formatting and data might be lost. System Policy Tip You can use a system policy to define the default value for the Save as type option in the Save As dialog box (File menu). In the System Policy Editor, set the Microsoft Excel 2000\Tools | Options\Transition\Save Excel files as policy. For more information about the System Policy Editor, see Using the System Policy Editor. The following table describes new features in Excel 2000 that might affect your data or formatting in Excel 98 and Excel 97.
