Using Office Documents in a Web WorldAdding Interactive Web Controls to Office DocumentsMicrosoft Office Web Components are a family of controls that can be used in Microsoft Internet Explorer to enable interactive browsing of Office data. Certain Office documents can be saved in interactive HTML format. The saved HTML file contains Office Web Components that are bound to the data in the document. The data can be manipulated and modified in Internet Explorer. Spreadsheet componentThe Spreadsheet Component displays data in a grid format similar to a Microsoft Excel worksheet. Values in the grid can be modified and formatted. The Property toolbox offers formatting, display, calculation, and search tools in the browser window. PivotTable componentThe PivotTable Component brings the functionality of PivotTables to Internet Explorer. Multidimensional data can be manipulated and modified in the browser window by using this component. Chart componentInteractive charting is made possible with the Chart Component. A Chart component is bound to the data of a Spreadsheet or PivotTable Component. When a user modifies the bound data in Internet Explorer, the Chart component is updated to reflect the new data. Data Source component and data access pagesThe Data Source Component displays relational data in Internet Explorer. Data can be grouped by fields, and then browsed in the same way it can be in an Access form. Data access pages created in Microsoft Access use the Data Source component to provide interactive database control on published HTML documents. |
