Installing Office Web Features for International Users

The Microsoft Office 2000 MultiLanguage Pack includes plug-in language features that allow users to change the language of the user interface. When you use Office Web features in an international environment, you can do the following:

• Conduct Web Discussions in any available language

  All collaboration data is sent over the wire in Universal Character Set Transformation Format 8-bit (UTF-8). UTF-8 is an ISO standard for transmitting character codes for all languages.

• Use localized versions of Web Folders

  When a user selects different languages for Office and for Microsoft Windows, the Web Folders interface is displayed in the Office language in Office applications, and in the Windows language in My Computer and Windows Explorer.

The Web Folders object name and corresponding ScreenTip are displayed in the language to which Windows is set when you install the Web Publishing feature. If Windows is set to a language that is not supported by the plug-in language features you are installing, then the Web Folders object name and corresponding ScreenTip appear in the Office installation language instead.

Note   The plug-in language features do not translate the user interface for the offline features that the Web Publishing feature makes available.
